Baby showers have always been a special occasion for the expected mother, as this is where her friends get together to celebrate the soon to be birth of the baby. Not that I’ve ever been to one, but from what I’ve heard these women tell stories, get stuck into the nibbles and have a few games. Generally it’s all about getting together and having a bit of fun.

Fun aside, the main purpose is to shower the mother to be with gifts for the baby and the mother to be. It seems that there is a new trend these days where the guests will also receive a little gift, known as a baby shower favor, to commemorate the occasion and as a thank you for the gifts. Strange that it took so long for someone to think of this unique marketing strategy.
