Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower Review

Firstly I want to point out that I am in no way affiliated with Ryobi and that this is my honest review of the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower. I bought the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower when my Victa two stroke lawn mower finally died. I didn’t want to get another petrol driven lawn mower because they’re just too cumbersome. You’ll notice in the video the stairs I had to drag the old mower up and down every time I wanted to mow the lawns.

I didn’t want a cabled electric lawn mower so I check out the battery operated lawn mowers.

My Review Of The Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower

I already have several Ryobi tools so I decided I may as well add to them. Their battery operated lawn mowers looked really good so decided on the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower. I chose the brushless version for two reasons. The first being it was bigger and the second because of the Load Sensing Technology. This allows the mower to automatically increase power when needed. For example when it comes to thicker or wetter grass. This smart mower lowers power output in normal conditions to give you increased run time.

After putting the lawnmower together, a pretty painless exercise, I took it for a spin. It cut the grass effortlessly. Not only that, it gave it a really clean cut. Maybe because of the new blade, but I was impressed all the same. Talking about blades, my old Victa had two blades, whereas the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower only has one.

I wasn’t sure how often I would be able to cut the lawns on one charge and was surprised when the 36V battery managed top last four full mowings.

There was only one fault of the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower and that was that it occasionally cut out. That didn’t bother me at first because it was so easy to restart, unlike the petrol mower. Unfortunately as time went on it started to do it more often and so became annoying.

My New Updated Ryobi Brushless Mower

Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower

My research showed the only time that should happen was when grass that was more than it could handle as it was a safety feature. I know that wasn’t the case as it happened even when the lawn was short enough for me to use the mulching attachment. Oh yeah, another great little feature.

Anyway, I took it back to Bunnings and they swapped it over for a new one. Man, was I wrapped, especially because the updated version didn’t have to be put together and had telescopic handles. Handles which I found to be ergonomically better.

I’m sure this mower won’t cut out like the previous one. If it does I’ll let you know.

Looking at the two mowers, photo and video, I reckon the new one looks a lot meaner too.

Something that I’ve noticed about owning an battery operated lawnmower is that I actually enjoy cutting the lawns now.

EDIT: Cut the lawn  yesterday with the new mower and I’m happy to report that it did not cut out once.
