Some Tips On Lowering Your Bank Fees

In my post How To Save Money When Things Are Tough I went though several great ways of saving money, one I missed out on was bank fees. Lately while listening to talk back radio and reading some of the stuff in news papers it seems that everyone is complaining about bank fees. Honestly, if you’re not happy about your bank’s fees and they knocked you back after approaching them about reducing them then the only option you have is to change banks. If enough people do that you they may decide to change their fee structure.

There may also be ways of reducing some of the fees you’re being charged. For example some banks will charge a fee when you use a competitors ATM so by careful planning you can make sure you only use your bank’s ATM’s thereby forgoing any fee charge.

Some banks only allow a certain amount of transactions per month, find out what they are and stick to it and you will save yourself some money. After talking to my bank manager I found that my daughter was getting charged a fee because one of the accounts she was using needed a deposit every month or a fee would be charged. All she had to do to forgo the charge was to deposit some money which she could withdraw immediately. As long as she made the deposit she would not be charged a fee.
