Today’s Holman Tap Timer review focuses on the Holman BTX1 tap timer. My Holman BTX1 review and setup video shows my unique configuration. It also stresses when setting up multiple BTX1 tap timers the importance of giving them individual names.

YouTube Holman Tap Timer Review

I’m hoping my Holman Tap Timer Review video will do well on YouTube because the competition videos aren’t as numerous as some of the other review videos I’ve done. All in all, I am pretty happy with my BTX1 which is why I scored it 7 out of 10. The video explains what cost Holman those three points.

While the BTX1 works well when it’s used on one tap, I found a problem when used on a multi-tap configuration. This probably would not have been an issue if they had used metal parts. The way around that was to ensure the timer was screwed in as tightly as possible.

The BTX1 biggest fault was in the Zone Management menu, see my BTX1 review video. While it would work fine if you only have one tap timer it’s more difficult when having multiple timers. This could be quickly resolved by changing the ‘run time’ to “Stop Time.’ Sure, it can be done with run time but it means working out when the timer will stop so you can set the time start time for the next timer.

The BTX1 timer, while it does not look like much, makes watering your garden extremely easy because it’s controlled by your smartphone. Now, I no longer have to leave the comfort of my lounge chair when I know that my garden/lawn needs a bit of water. Yes, it costs a little more than your average digital tap timers but I’ve used them before, both pope and Holman and they were very problematic.

WordPress 5.0 Gutenberg Review

Even though Guttenberg has been around for a while, I thought I would still do a WordPress 5.0 Gutenberg review. I know that a few bloggers out there may still be struggling with the new editor so I did a video to help these poor souls out.

If you liked my Writing A Post With WordPress 5.0 Gutenberg why not give it a thumbs up. If you haven’t subscribed yet why not subscribe to my Bonzer Channel? 👍

OK, now that I have that out of the way on to my WordPress 5.0 Guttenberg review.

WordPress 5.0 Gutenberg Review Good Or Bad

WordPress 5.0 Gutenberg Review

I have to admit when I first started using the new Gutenberg editor, I wasn’t at all impressed. In actual fact, I hated it so much that I had to revert to the old editor to write a post.

After persevering with it for some time I’m starting to get used to it. In fact, the more I use it, the more it grows on me. Obviously, it needs some improvements, like being able to highlight certain words by making it a different colour, or even changing the colour of a heading, but rumours are that these and other improvements are on the way.

I found that inserting an image into a post was particularly difficult. But that’s only because I had no idea what I was doing. Now that I know it’s an absolute breeze. My video show how easy it is to insert an image using the Gutenberg editor.

Another thing I was having problems with was the ‘more’ tag. While it was simpler using the old style editor, it’s still pretty simple using the new WordPress 5.0 editor. Once again see the video if you’re having problems using the ‘more’ tag.

Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower Review

Firstly I want to point out that I am in no way affiliated with Ryobi and that this is my honest review of the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower. I bought the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower when my Victa two stroke lawn mower finally died. I didn’t want to get another petrol driven lawn mower because they’re just too cumbersome. You’ll notice in the video the stairs I had to drag the old mower up and down every time I wanted to mow the lawns.

I didn’t want a cabled electric lawn mower so I check out the battery operated lawn mowers.

My Review Of The Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower

I already have several Ryobi tools so I decided I may as well add to them. Their battery operated lawn mowers looked really good so decided on the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower. I chose the brushless version for two reasons. The first being it was bigger and the second because of the Load Sensing Technology. This allows the mower to automatically increase power when needed. For example when it comes to thicker or wetter grass. This smart mower lowers power output in normal conditions to give you increased run time.

After putting the lawnmower together, a pretty painless exercise, I took it for a spin. It cut the grass effortlessly. Not only that, it gave it a really clean cut. Maybe because of the new blade, but I was impressed all the same. Talking about blades, my old Victa had two blades, whereas the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower only has one.

I wasn’t sure how often I would be able to cut the lawns on one charge and was surprised when the 36V battery managed top last four full mowings.

There was only one fault of the Ryobi Brushless Lawn Mower and that was that it occasionally cut out. That didn’t bother me at first because it was so easy to restart, unlike the petrol mower. Unfortunately as time went on it started to do it more often and so became annoying.

My New Updated Ryobi Brushless Mower

My research showed the only time that should happen was when grass that was more than it could handle as it was a safety feature. I know that wasn’t the case as it happened even when the lawn was short enough for me to use the mulching attachment. Oh yeah, another great little feature.

Anyway, I took it back to Bunnings and they swapped it over for a new one. Man, was I wrapped, especially because the updated version didn’t have to be put together and had telescopic handles. Handles which I found to be ergonomically better.

I’m sure this mower won’t cut out like the previous one. If it does I’ll let you know.

Looking at the two mowers, photo and video, I reckon the new one looks a lot meaner too.

Something that I’ve noticed about owning an battery operated lawnmower is that I actually enjoy cutting the lawns now.

EDIT: Cut the lawn  yesterday with the new mower and I’m happy to report that it did not cut out once.
