I well know the problems that spamming cause forum owners as I have two of my own. I understand that many forums have rules that users have to abide by. I even wrote an article on Forums And One Way Links which contained a section on Forum Etiquette, which states you should always follow the forum rules.

I always try to abide by this but being human I have erred on occasion. I was shocked yesterday after posting a topic that I had abused this particular forums TOS (my fault for not reading instructions in the forum area) and I immediately deleted the post. What I found weird is that the forum main area was dealing with all things related to affiliates and I posted my topic in the right area but unfortunately it included an affiliate link. So they want me to submit good affiliates but do not want me to profit by it. Why would I bother?

On my PotOfGold forum I will allow such links as long as they abide by certain rules and it is of good content. Still each to his own as I always say.
