I know how fast technology moves along these days, so fast that sometimes it’s hard keeping track of the latest releases into the market. Only today I overheard someone talking about a Slingbox and I must admit I just had to eavesdrop a little to see what it was all about. We happened to be in the electronic section of a fairly large department store so I half assumed it had to be something in the electronics department.

it turned out to be TV streaming device that enables you, via your computer, to remotely view your home’s cable, satellite, or personal DVD recorder. All you need is an Internet connection. Now that is what I call cool.

Slingbox is a cool concept, but with Hulu and various other TV shows free online, there is almost no reason anymore to stream live TV to a PC, unless you “HAVE” to watch it in real time. For the rest, its convenient, but the reverse is probably more important. Streaming media from PC to your television in another room in the house.
