Rules For Commenting On This Blog

Bloggers normally love it when people take the time to leave a comment but this is only true when the comment is of good content and in some way related to the post. Lately I have been getting a lot of what can be only termed as “Spam” comments. The sole intention of these wankers is to promote their own blog or site. If this is you don’t bother wasting your time because your comment will be deleted.

If on the other hand your comment is related to the post, even if it’s negative, and is more than just “good post” it will remain on the blog. Consider this, a good comment has more chance of someone clicking on your link than one which is merely spam.

I finally initiated comment moderation on all my blogs because of this. I got a flood of spam for the first week or so, then it really stopped it! Of course, well-meaning commenters have to wait until I login and realize they’ve commented to see what they’ve written and I think some of them figure I won’t get back to it or just forget and don’t bother with it.

Overall though, it’s been worth it!

Actually, Spam Karma gets the majority of spam, but every now and again a human with poor ethics slips through. I just thought I would post this in case some of them were wondering why their comments were disappearing.

I’ve noticed you needed approval on your blogs. Lucky for you I am a patient man lol

I have noticed a lot of spamming comments on my blogs lately. never really had a problem with it before. I have been deleting comments as well.

as for what manodogs says, I do comment on some blogs that have the moderator approach. sometimes I wonder if they notice, or just that my comment didn’t make “the cut”!

Yeah, at least Manodogs blog tells you that the comment is being moderated. Some blogs don’t say anything and the commenter is always left wondering.

The ones that kill me are the ones that come through saying something like, “I found your post through Google. Didn’t quite understand but will do more research”. It was left on a poem I posted on one of my blogs. Hello, it’s a freaking poem, what’s not to understand?

But I guess that’s better than the guy who left porno links in a post I wrote about my Boy Scouts.

I reckon those comments are automated, I mean no-one could be that dumb, could they?
